A delicious project to work on, my friend and neighbor Judy Ward asked me to come up with a label for her award winning cakes at the upcoming farmer's market. Judy won 1st place at the NC State Fair for her "Plain Mock Pound Cake." For her caricature, I tried a new route: a recently acquired Wacom tablet. I've been holding off for years before finally breaking down and purchasing one of the "Bamboo" tablets, and I must say, I'm hooked (though, I really wanted the 21" Cintiq, but my family has to eat, ya' know). If offers up a whole new level of illustrating and logo design. I did a loose pencil sketch, scanned it in, then "inked" and colorized the design with the tablet. Later added in text with Adobe Illustrator. More fun than one guy should have, or stay up to the wee hours of the morning working on.
